Con alti
e bassi il polar, il poliziesco alla francese, sta vivendo una nuova età dell'oro. Preso tra le referenze letterarie
e il suo glorioso passato cinematografico, il genere ha visto 

negli ultimi anni una rinascita sia sul grande
schermo che in televisione (con serie come Braquo e Pigalle la nuit). Seppur mediocre, Diamant 13 ne dimostra la
vitalità. Si tratta 

esplicitamente di una pellicola alla Olivier Marchal, con Olivier Marchal e prodotto
da Olivier Marchal (che é, lo ricordiamo, il regista di 36 Quai des Orfevres e L'ultima missione).
Tuttavia, la
regia affidata a Gilles Béhat, che ha diretto una stagione di Paris Enquête Criminelle, manca di sobrietà, ci
propone dei cliché consolidati lasciando poco spazio 

all'immaginazione. Anversa e Lussemburgo sembrano
dunque Los Angeles e la sceneggiatura non dimentica i locali jazz, i poliziotti corrotti, il commissario dai metodi
violenti (a cui Gérard 

Depardieu si dedica comunque con passione) e le donne fatali (Asia Argento).
